My Story

Six years ago my life changed completely when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

Months of mysterious joint pain and chronic fatigue had left me feeling like my body no longer belonged to me. Tasks that seemed so simple before like getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, and feeding myself became daunting and painful. After months, my doctor finally gave me a diagnosis – it was lupus. More specifically, I had Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). And that was when my journey with nutrition and yoga began.

I still remember my first yoga class.

My mind kept going as I curled myself into child’s pose, moved from pose to pose and laid in my savasana. I kept thinking to myself, "is this really benefiting me?"

However, after going to yoga classes for months, I learned that the practice allowed me to be friends with myself again and accept my body for where it was at right then and there.

I started thinking there could be more than living with pain and chronic fatigue.

I started being curious about the food I put into my body and its effects on my body. I started trying new foods, taking foods out, and learning about food. I also started realizing how stress had a huge impact on my health. And I started to see how these changes positively affected my health.
